The Tracer devices come in three versions, fixed, semi-fixed or mobile. Fixed and semi fixed are attached to objects while mobile is carried by a person. The mobile unit is battery-powered while the others may be mains and/or battery powered. Tracer uses a positioning system to pin-point its location and a communication system to convey its information.
The Tracer is a generic device suitable as a platform for a number of sensors, thereby inviting third-party sensor manufacturers to develop sensors for diverse applications. Typical applications areas where Portendo will partner in developing end-user products are people and luggage screening systems and detectors used in military vehicles. |

Maintenance is easy and cost efficient. Software updates can be performed automatically in a way that resembles updating anti-virus software in personal computers.
The communication between the Tracer and the Portendo OPC use advanced access control to stop tampering, encryption to block eavesdropping and irregularly occurring status transmissions to mask the occasional threat transmissions.
The processing unit utilizes the information gathered from the sensor unit to identify if one or more substances are represented in the air sample. This is done by comparing the results from the sensor with a signature database. If a match is found, the device will use a positioning system (e.g. GPS) to establish its location and report the findings over the chosen communication network (e.g. GSM network).

Explosives Detection:
The sensor device is designed to detect the presence of explosives by detecting a number of substances known to be diffused from most explosives. The sensor is based on highly sensitive Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy, producing a different signature for each type of explosive.
Nuclear Detection:
The nuclear sensor is an intelligent radiation detector that can identify the radiation signature of the environment and differentiate nuclear threats from background radiation. Targeted nuclear threats are both nuclear bombs and “dirty bombs” (i.e. bombs surrounded with nuclear waste). |
